Learn: Growing Tomatoes - grow like a pro!

A colourful mix of homegrown tomatoes

Once you have tasted your own homegrown tomatoes, grown organically, the supermarket ones will lose their appeal.  But the specific variety also plays a huge part, as does how you grow them.  With organic tomatoes costing £12.50 a kilo (at the time of writing!), tomato growing is a skill well worth nurturing!

During 2024, Cherry will run a workshop focussed entirely on growing tomatoes.  It will be limited to 10 people and take place in her 1.5 acre no dig garden just 4 miles outside of Monmouth.

Cherry will share with participants some of the most tasty and interesting varieties, as well as growing techniques (for the tall, indeterminate varieties), such as planting, watering, staking / supporting, sideshooting and harvesting.  She will also cover issues like feeding, storing, blight, indoor ripening and seed saving.

The day will take place in the garden, looking at plants grown outside, as well as those in the polytunnel and greenhouse.

This in person event will run from 10am to 4pm.  It will be hands-on with lots of fresh air. Tea will be provided on arrival and at the end of the day, but please bring a packed lunch with you and a flask, as the price does not include lunch or any other refreshments.
